Rocky and Chris were great. Had a move done today by Your Local Movers, and the process was quick and hassle-free. White-glove service, 5 stars! Newer staff is doing a great job :)
Two hours before my scheduled move, the mover texts me saying he's sick and to see if we could reschedule for another day. I had the elevators booked, took the day off work, and was also moving items out of my storage unit, which I had cancelled the storage rental agreement as of that day, thinking everything would be moved out, so changing the move date was really not an option. They said they'd try to find someone to cover him. Two hours pass with no follow up. I call 7 different moving companies and finally find one that can take me last minute. I ask for the deposit back, he acknowledged receipt, but I never got the deposit back. I emailed and called to follow up once a week for the next month. Each phone call they had an excuse saying "the guy who can do it is not in the office right now," and "we thought we sent it to you?" I asked for proof of etransfer and they said they would but never did. Now it's been almost two months, I still have not received my deposit back. This company is a scam and will take your money when no services have been provided. They're quick to respond to emails when you want to book them, but ghost you when asking for my small deposit back for services NOT provided. I'm not even asking for compensation of time lost, as the whole day's schedule was delayed, I'm just asking for my $100 deposit back, and this company can't even do that. I understand people get sick and it's unfortunate, but it's not fair they take my deposit and not return it back to me when they were unable to provide me the service I requested and paid the deposit for. I have receipts of all email and text message exchanges as well. They don't care. Will just take your money and disappear.
We recently had the misfortune of hiring Your Local Movers to handle our move, and it was a nightmare from start to finish. If you’re in Vancouver and considering using this company, think twice. Here’s why: No-Show on Moving Day: The movers simply didn’t show up. We were left high and dry, with no truck, no movers, and no help. Moving day is stressful enough without this kind of blatant unreliability. Lack of Communication: There was no call, no email, no text—nothing to inform us that they wouldn’t be arriving. We were left waiting and wondering for hours, trying desperately to get in touch with them. Financial Loss: We paid a deposit which we now realize was a complete waste. Additionally, we had rented the elevator at our new place, a cost that is non-refundable. Thanks to Your Local Movers, we are out hundreds of dollars. Inexcusable Response: When they finally did get back to us, five hours after our scheduled appointment, their email was full of excuses and no real explanation or apology. The tone was dismissive, and the message was clear: they didn’t care about the inconvenience and stress they had caused us. Defeats the Purpose: The whole point of hiring movers is to reduce the stress of moving. Your Local Movers did the complete opposite. Instead of alleviating stress, they compounded it by being unreliable and unprofessional. If you need movers in Vancouver that you can rely on, steer clear of Your Local Movers. Their service is unforgivable, their communication non-existent, and their professionalism severely lacking. Save yourself the headache and choose a company that actually values your time and money.
If I could rate zero stars, I would. I would not recommend this company and will never use them again. They are so unprofessional, unreliable and shady as hell. I'm quite baffled that they have such a high rating.
So, we hired this company for a move at the end of August. My partner had previously used them before and while that move went well, they were several hours late. For this move, the movers arrived morning of. We showed all the furniture we had. They started loading the truck. As they started loading the furniture, we were informed that there was not room on the truck for all our furniture and that a second trip would have to be made. We also discovered that the truck that arrived was a different company (Goody movers). Had we been informed earlier that there wouldn't have been enough room, we would have left boxes out to make room for the large furniture that would not fit in our vehicles. Negating the need for a second trip which increased our cost. When we talked to the company after the move was completed, apparently we should have been informed far earlier that the truck was too small so we could have made an informed choice and avoided the extra charges. It also took multiple messages to be issued a receipt that we were initially told we would receive the same day as the move. I was not impressed and would not use or recommend this company since it seems like you never quite know what you are going to get.
