TransCanada movers really knows their stuff. They were able to work with me to conduct a move of my storage locker in Alberta, all the way into the United States, without me having to be on site. They are extremely knowledgeable about the cross border process, and kept me in the loop on delivery dates, arrival dates, and we were able to work with my unique situation. They are a little bit on the pricey end for Cross border moving services, but you absolutely get what you pay for. They made the process completely painless and managed to get all of my belongings through customs and to my new home safely and quickly.
My husband and I were planning to move from San Mateo, California to British Columbia, Canada. We received quotes from three to four movers specializing in international relocations. The team at Trans Canada Movers (TCM), including Conor, the sales agent, the Roadway Moving crew Jose , Jesus and Miguel who collected our belongings from California, the two TCM representatives who assisted us at Canada Border Services, and Mehmet and Emre, who delivered our belongings to our home in British Columbia, Canada, provided an outstanding service and did an excellent job! Throughout the process, Conor, the sales agent, offered us meticulous guidance on documentation and Canadian customs restrictions. He thoroughly explained all relevant details. Simultaneously, the movers team demonstrated remarkable care in handling our belongings, displaying unwavering professionalism, efficiency, and expertise. Good job, guys! I highly recommend them!
Trans Canada Movers are the way to go! I relocated from Canada to the U.S. last year, and I spent a lot of time researching moving companies, not knowing how many scams are out there... My biggest fear was to be taken advantage of, or have multiple items carelessly thrown around and broken. My hubby and I opted to pay for additional insurance, just in case; however, we were pleasantly surprised to see the great care the team put into packing up our items. These guys are so professional and efficient, it's an incredible operation! I honestly watched them all in awe when they packed up our entire 2 bedroom apartment in just a few hours - something that would have taken me two weeks on my own! Conor was my point of contact, and he was so helpful from the get-go, I would absolutely work with him again. He helped me with all my questions along the way, and provided me with an estimate as well. The paperwork isn't terrible either, and everything got through the border crossing smoothly within about 4-6 weeks as promised. Outstanding service from start to finish. Jake was amazing in explaining the process and reviewing the quote - and was great at communicating as needed. The move was on schedule and the cost was exactly as quoted. I moved from Edmonton to Toronto and both the loading and unloading crews were professional and and took care of our belonging. I would strongly recommend Trans Canada Movers. This is the second time I have used them in a move and have already recommend them to a family member that is planning a move.
I had a somewhat mixed experience with Trans Canada Movers, some aspects were excellent while some were disappointing. Overall though, my things did all arrive with minimal damage (one broken bowl and a chip on my TV stand) within a very reasonable amount of time. I shipped my things from LA to Toronto, and mostly corresponded with Don, who always replied promptly which I appreciated. The movers on the LA side worked very quickly and efficiently. However, they quoted my items at 550 CBF, nearly double the initial estimate, which added over 2.5K to my bill. I had measured and photographed all my items prior and knew that this couldn't be correct, and when I told the mover this he said he could reduce the quote to 500CBF at most, and seemed to suggest this was done as a favor. I then reached out to Don explaining the situation, and he said they would re-measure my shipment once it arrived in Canada, and get back to me with an updated quote. This took quite some time, and I had to ask several times for that re-measurement. It ultimately ended up happening the day my shipment was set to arrive (which caused some difficulty in setting up payment), and it was indeed significantly less CBF then I was originally quoted (the new quote was for 400CBF) which saved me a significant amount of money. So I highly recommend pre-measuring your shipments ahead of time. As for the delivery, I made it clear to several Trans Canada Movers reps that My delivery address was 3 stories up, no elevator, and access to the building was tough as there was only a narrow alley to park in. I was assured this wasn't a problem, and was charged an additional fee for the stairs. When it came time for delivery though, I found they only sent 2 movers (they sent 3 for my pickup in LA, which had no stairs and easy access) and did not inform them that there were any stairs involved. I also learned that the additional fee for the stairs was not passed along to the movers, so I'm not sure how that extra cost is justified. The two movers, Murat and Cagatay, were truly excellent. They had to balance moving their truck in and out of our alley to allow for traffic to come through, in addition to carrying a 1br worth of stuff, including a couch, TV, tables, and a very heavy mattress, up 3 stories and over 50 stairs. They remained friendly, efficient, and professional the entire time, despite this clearly being a very demanding job. I can't thank them enough for their work. They made what could have been a very stressful situation calm and comfortable.
