Called them to repair an emergency leak in the upstairs bathroom roof. I explained the situation and was quoted 'a couple hundred'. They sent someone over within a couple hours (this was the weekend too, I was impressed). The guy came, took a look, found the hole in the roof (and 2 others), and told me he could seal them. I asked if he could also tarp one of the areas as well. He said he could, though he didn't think it was necessary. I asked him what the cost would be, and he said '5 or 6 hundred, though I'm not really the pricing guy so I don't know'. I mentioned the original guy we spoke to thought it would be a couple hundred but the guy on-site explained since it's more work than they thought so it would be more. I agreed, and he did the work (and covered one of the areas with a tarp I bought). He left after less than 2 hours. The next day I got an invoice for $1200, with no line items for what labour cost, materials, anything. Just $1200 and a couple lines of descriptors. I called to ask about the massive discrepancy and he said 'oh, that what the on-site guy said to charge... I guess I'll talk to him again' which didn't instill confidence in me. He sent a revised invoice for $750 a little later. I'm glad it's not $1200 but I would encourage anyone working with GVRD Roofing to get a quote in writing, and also sign off on work to be done with a quoted amount. To be clear, the roofing work seems fine (and I'm glad they were able to come so quickly), it's just the quoting and invoicing that I have a problem with. Paying 3.5 times the amount quoted over the phone, and still more than the on-site guy's estimate doesn't feel great.
2022: When I noticed a leak in my bedroom, I contact many roofers. Most did not get back to me. A few told me they were so busy, they had to turn customers away. GVRD Roofing stayed in touch with me and sent Marcos as soon as he had a spare moment. The repair took only 10 minutes, but I am so grateful to have it done. Marcos also said if I have any further problems, to just let him know. It was an overall excellent experience given the very difficult time we are having in BC right now with excessive rain and storms. I recommend GVRD Roofing Inc and thank the team for taking care of my roof. 2024: Because of the great service I got in 2022, when my roof leaked again this year, I contacted GVRD. Another amazing job. Roof leak is repaired and at the same time, the team replaced some broken vent and plumbing stacks and cleaned the moss from the roof for a very fair price. I hope my roof will hold out for another ten years. Thank you. I highly recommend GVRD Roofing Inc.
Had a missing vent cap cover on my roof that needed to be installed ASAP. Called them on a Sat, Dan showed up at the time he said he would Sunday morning. However I had not received a quote so there was some back and forth with Dan and his boss - they ended up quoting me something competitive to another quote I had received so I went ahead with having Dan proceed to add a new vent cap cover. While on the roof Dan identified my deteriorating roof caps and suggested I replace them soon to make the roof last longer. As well he helped me secure down other vent caps to avoid having them get dislodged. Overall Dan was professional and a good communicator. There was some mix up with the invoice afterwards with his boss Chris but it was quickly resolved and I am happy with their help last minute on a weekend.
GVRD Roofing did a great job on our commercial building. Guys were fantastic 7am starts and late days. So professional and very high quality. Not one of our tenants complained about noise or smell. I would highly recommend them.
Roofing Inc did an amazing job on re-roofing my roof, so good that I referred my grandma to them. Chris was quick to respond when I need his help and even happy explained and broke down the process and any questions I had was answered, even gave me suggestions for another problem had questions about and how to fix and prevent it. Overall great service.
