Amazing experience with Retro Teck Windows! We were overdue to have some windows replaced in our older home so we started to look around. We decided to check out a couple companies as we know nothing about windows/construction and heard about Retrotech through a friend that builds houses. Stan was our salesman whose been doing this for years and truly seems very genuine and authentic. We did not feel any pressure or upselling at all. He gave us a couple options to consider and provided us with all the information we needed as well as answering questions about potential rebates available. We enquired at one other glass company which was a totally different experience which was very corporate and professional but also came in at a higher price point. We decided to go with Retro Teck. Their installation team (Jason, Richard and Rick) arrived promptly and went straight to work. These guys are so kind and considerate and FAST. My wife and I cannot say enough nice things about this team. They laid down drop cloths everywhere before they started and vacuumed the floors and cleaned the windows before they left. We looked around after they were gone and it was like they were never there! They were also super cooperative as we had an alarm guy come in at the same time - to re-alarm the new windows and Jason made sure that they were able to preserve the wiring to make it easier for the alarm tech to install the new sensors. Jason also noticed a missing flashing on the work order for one of the windows but installed one anyway cuz he said “if it was my own house I’d want it done”! Thanks again Jay! There was also a very small issue with one of the windows (the spring was a bit too strong and when you opened it the window slid open by itself). Jason called the office - which is near Boundary and Marine. And their technician Harry arrived to remedy the problem before the rest of the widows were installed (total 11 windows). Without hesitation we would recommend Retrotech. Keep up the great work!
This is the second time we went with Retro Teck for our home. The windows look and work great and we noticed the sound reduction immediately. The crew did the entire house (14 windows and a sliding door) in a single day and were very professional. Best price quote too, and made locally. Very satisfied.
I was told it will take one week to install the window and doors. But, they have only just finished the job, having begun it almost a year ago. There are numerous quality problems, such as scratches, missing silicon seals, misaligned or sharp edges, that require repeated visits to repair. Then I discovered a more significant problem: the doors aren't even closed all the way, so I could see inside from the outside and water could easily get through. They came a few times to fix it, but each time they just narrowed the gap rather than closed it. Now, they are saying they don't see any problem. Then, without telling me, they drilled holes for the stoppers on the brand-new window frame. When I pointed out that they were drafty, they patched one of the holes but left the other two unplugged. The holes are sharp and left open. I requested that they install sleeves so that I could use the stopper instead of having items installed partially and then patched up, preventing me from using it. They answered they don't have the proper items to do that and asked me to deal with the building management rather than emailing them. They told me if I fix that myself, I might void the warranty. I was told the windows meets the minimum requirement, but what I was unaware of was these windows don't have to the minimum requirement since they are old stocks from many years ago but they told us they had to custom made the windows for each unit last year. They quoted us 6 times more expensive than the previous year due to a shortage of manpower and resources. So now we have over priced windows that don't meet the minimum requirement because it was under exemptions. No wonder other owners told me they feel these windows and doors are making the room colder then our old windows and doors.
I highly recommend Retro Teck for Window replacement/sliding door replacement. I had looked up several companies for replacing my single pane windows and sliding door, and was very glad I ended up going with Retro Teck. They were accommodating in making our windows custom to the way we preferred. I had contacted Stan on February 15th and had the windows installed March 9th (although during busy seasons, it may not always be as fast). The installation team was professional, clean, respectful, and efficient. They installed 10 windows and 1 sliding door in 6 hours and did an amazing job. There was minimal debris inside the home from cutting out the old windows; any debris that was created was cleaned up by the team. We have done a lot of renovations and I have never experienced such a clean home after a work crew left. They also removed/disposed all of the old windows/screens. With getting new windows, I was concerned that I would need to paint or do drywalling after the windows were cut out/new windows were put in, but there was no work on our part. Everything fit perfectly. We have noticed a HUGE difference in the sound barrier that the double pane windows create as well as our house retaining heat/not letting cold air in. It looks and feels like a new home.
I have recently moved into a 21 year old house and wanted to get the windows replaced. The first place that came to mind was Retro Teck as they have replaced my old houses windows in the past. Even until this day, those 15 year old windows still look new. From the day that I placed the order for the custom made windows, I was already given an date for when they will be installed. The installer Chad, did an amazing job and worked with expertise throughout the week to install all the windows and trims. The quality of the windows are excellent and so is the warranty that comes with them. I would definitely recommend Retro Teck Windows for anyone in need for new windows with exterior trim detailing.
